Fiat G.50 Freccia in the colors of the Regia Aeronautica - a complete resin kit of the first modern Italian monoplane fighter in 1:72 scale from SBS Model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A complete resin kit of the Italian Fiat G.50 Freccia fighter in a version for the machines of the Regia Aeronautica of the Kingdom of Italy. The Hungarian maker SBS Model is known for very fine resin castings with rich surface detail; the kit is intended for experienced modelers who have already mastered working with resin.
The Fiat G.50 Freccia, meaning arrow, was the first Italian all-metal monoplane fighter with retractable landing gear. It first flew in 1937 and was powered by the Fiat A.74 two-row radial engine. Its armament was a pair of synchronized Breda-SAFAT machine guns above the engine. Production machines mostly flew with an open cockpit, which Italian pilots preferred. The Regia Aeronautica deployed the G.50 at the start of the Second World War over France, Greece and North Africa among other places; the type was gradually displaced by more capable fighters.
Wash the parts before building to remove any mold release agent and cut the casting blocks off carefully with a saw; protect your airways while sanding. They are glued with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The typical mottled camouflage schemes come out well on Italian machines - it pays to work with an airbrush with a fine nozzle and to apply the paint in thin coats. A fine dark wash will bring out the engraved detail.
The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted, cast in resin. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
