This is a photo-etched detail set from Eduard in 1:48 scale for a faithful rendering of the landing flaps of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb fighter. It is neither a model nor a kit but an accessory that replaces the plastic flaps with fine photo-etched parts, which can be shown in the lowered position complete with a suggestion of the internal structure. The exact contents follow the instructions in the package.
The Supermarine Spitfire was a British fighter of the Second World War with a characteristic elliptical wing. The Mk.Vb version was among the most widely built and carried a wing with mixed cannon and machine gun armament. The landing flaps on the underside of the wing were usually lowered when the aircraft was standing, which is a popular way of displaying a model.
The original flaps are cut away from the plastic as instructed and replaced with the photo-etched parts. These are cut from the fret, shaped and bonded with super glue. We recommend careful fitting to the underside of the wing; flaps in the lowered position give a model a lively, in-service look.
This is a detailing accessory, not an aircraft model. The base kit and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
