A mask for the outer framing of the cockpit, two masks for the national insignia and metal barrels for the pair of cannons for the tropical Spitfire Mk Vb in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The tropical modification of the Mk V was created for service in North Africa and on Malta, where fine sand destroyed engine superchargers within dozens of hours. A bulky filter was therefore added under the nose, which cost the machine speed as well as rate of climb but extended its life. The armament consisted of a pair of 20 mm cannons complemented by machine guns, and characteristic elongated fairings grew on the wings over the feed mechanism of the cannons.
The glazing of the Mk V consists of three separate parts. At the front stands the windscreen frame with a flat center pane, behind which armored glass was hung on the inside; in the middle a blown sliding section runs on guide rails; and at the rear a fixed triangular part with a bar holds. The film supplied covers the framing from outside. The inner side therefore stays up to the modeler, which in practice means covering mainly the inside of the windscreen frame, because that is the most visible part with the cockpit open.
Glue the sliding section only after unmasking so that it can be opened, and check that the guide rails on the sides have not been clogged with paint. The metal barrels are set into the wing at the end and how far they project ahead of the leading edge follows the subject of the particular machine. Drill the holes for them before painting, otherwise the fresh paint around the hole will be damaged.
