The accessory represents the boarding ladder by which the pilot climbs into the cockpit. The word family in the name suggests that the release is based on the type of ladder shared by machines derived from the basic design; for the individual variants and the later versions, however, the manufacturer also offers separate sets, so it is a good idea to choose according to the machine you are building. The package contains the accessory only, and the aircraft model has to be obtained separately. The parts are made of resin and plastic for aircraft in 1:48 scale.
The Su-27 is a twin-engine jet fighter of Soviet origin, technically characterized by the integral arrangement of the fuselage and the wing, a pronounced leading-edge root extension and a pair of engines housed in separate nacelles. A whole family of further machines grew out of the original design, single-seat as well as two-seat, differing in avionics, tanks and the shape of the tail surfaces. The cockpit sits fairly high, so boarding without a ladder is impossible and the ground crew carries one along with the machine.
Separate the parts from the casting block carefully, wash them in lukewarm water with dish soap and let them dry. They are attached with cyanoacrylate glue, ideally applied drop by drop with a wooden stick. Apply primer before painting. With a ladder it pays to spray the base shade first, then to pick the edges of the rungs out lightly with a lighter tone and finally to tone the whole down with a fine dusting, so that it does not look brand new. When fitting it to the model, check whether the ladder stands vertically and reaches the edge of the cockpit. If you are planning a scene with figures, think the arrangement through before you glue anything in place for good.
