A decal sheet with markings for a model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc fighter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Supermarine Spitfire is one of the best known fighters of the Second World War. The Mk.IX version was created as a quick answer to the German machines that had climbed away from the British fighters at altitude: a more powerful engine with a two-stage supercharger was fitted into the airframe of the older version and the aircraft won its edge at high altitude back. The letter c in the designation belongs to the so-called universal wing, which allowed the armament to be put together in several combinations. The Mk.IX became one of the most numerous versions and flew in the colors of a number of Allied air forces.
This is a marking sheet in 1:48 scale. Which particular machines it covers, how many options it offers and how the items are laid out on the sheet is given by the manufacturer in the enclosed instructions; they also tell you whether the sheet holds only national markings and codes or additional stencils as well.
A decal is transferred from its paper by soaking in water. Coat the area under it with gloss clear first, because a silvery haze forms under the film on a matte surface. Cut the motif out close to the edge of the print, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until it starts to slide on the backing. Move it onto the dampened spot, align it and press the excess water out with a soft cloth from the center toward the edges. A decal softener helps over riveting and uneven surfaces. Once dry, seal the model with the clear coat that suits the finish you want.
The model, paints, clear coat and decal softener are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
