1:48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XVI TFace is an Eduard masking set that covers the glazing of a model from the outside and from the inside alike.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set from the manufacturer Eduard is intended for painting a model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XVI in 1:48 scale. The designation TFace means that the sheet holds masks for both sides of the glazing, that is for the inner surface of the canopy as well. Thanks to that you can paint the frames from inside in the interior shade and from outside in camouflage, which on an open cockpit reads considerably more credibly than one-sided masking. The set is neither a kit nor a part of a model.
The Spitfire Mk.XVI is a late version of the British fighter, powered by a Merlin engine built under license in the United States. A number of machines of this version had a cut-down fuselage spine and a teardrop canopy, which offered a better view to the rear. It is on exactly such a canopy that the inner side of the frame shows, so the difference between one-sided and double-sided masking is recognized at first glance.
First stick the inner masks on, spray the interior shade and let it dry thoroughly. Only then add the outer masks and go on with the camouflage. The inner shapes are smaller and harder to handle, so have tweezers with a fine point ready and work over a surface a dropped mask can easily be picked up from. After spraying, take the outer masks off first, check the edges and only at the end the inner ones. If you want to display the cockpit open, it pays to bring the inner frames up slightly with a fine line before the canopy is glued on.
The set is an accessory to a kit, not a model in its own right. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
