The Eduard 1:48 resin SUU-7 dispenser completes the underwing armament of a model of an American combat aircraft with a period-typical submunition carrier. It is an accessory, not a kit of the aircraft.

Stores turn a model of a combat aircraft into a particular machine on a particular mission. This resin set from the Czech firm Eduard adds the SUU-7 dispenser, that is a carried device for holding and dispersing submunitions, which was typical of American tactical aircraft of the 1960s. Resin makes sense here above all because of the cylindrical shape: a casting has no lengthwise parting line that would have to be sanded away, and it preserves the fine texture of the ends and of the mounting.
The SUU-7 belonged to a family of carried dispensers whose purpose was to hold a larger quantity of small submunitions and to disperse them over an area target. The container was hung on a standard pylon and released its contents through openings in the rear section. This method of use was common in the 1960s with tactical aircraft of the US Air Force deployed in Southeast Asia, so the dispenser is among the typical equipment of machines of that era. For a modeler it is interesting precisely because it appears in period photographs in combination with other stores.
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release agent from the surface. The casting block tends to be on the flat end or along the lower edge; cut it off with a saw and level the surface on sanding paper laid on glass, so that the cylinder stays straight. Sand resin wet or with a respirator. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Before painting apply a primer, then the base shade, and finally tie the dispenser in with the other stores with a fine wash and a light touch of dust, so that the armament does not look freshly unpacked.
