The real subject

Dispensers of the SUU-7 family served American tactical aircraft to carry dispensed submunitions. A characteristic feature is the cylindrical body ending in an array of dispensing tubes, completed by lugs and stabilizing features. Different configurations of the dispenser differ from one another in details that are recognizable in 1:48 scale when viewed close up — which is why it makes sense to choose the type according to a photograph of the particular machine.

Building and painting tips

Wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand wet with protection for your airways. It is practical to assemble and paint the dispensers off the model, after which they only need gluing onto the racks with super glue. Apply the primer sparingly, so that the detail of the tubes is kept. If you are building a model with several dispensers, watch that they all have the array rotated the same way — asymmetry shows at once from behind. A light breath of dust on the lower part settles the accessory nicely into the whole.
