1:48 Torpedo Mk.54 for helicopters, a pair is a resin accessory from Metallic Details. It serves to equip a finished model of a carrier helicopter; it is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Two light Mk.54 anti-submarine torpedoes in the form for helicopters, cast in resin in 1:48 scale. The product is not a model of a helicopter or a structural part of one but a stores accessory. You hang it on the side pylons of a finished machine, or make it a detail of a deck scene where a torpedo waits on a cart beside a parked helicopter.
A helicopter drops a torpedo from a hover or at low speed, that is, under completely different conditions from a fast patrol aircraft. The fittings of the torpedo and the way it is hung correspond to that. The Mk.54 belongs to the newer generation of light anti-submarine torpedoes and in carrier service it is replacing the older type of the same caliber. Modelers of present-day naval aircraft therefore need different stores from those building machines of the 1980s.
Wash the resin parts, dry them and only then cut. On torpedoes the casting block tends to be on a face the rack will cover anyway, but level the face all the same, so that the part sits straight. On a helicopter the torpedo is close to the landing gear and in the line of sight, so take care over the vertical alignment and the equal height of both pieces, or the scene will look askew. Do the painting separately from the fuselage and join them only at the end with cyanoacrylate. Choose a weak wash, so that the sharp transition of the head is not lost.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
