A turned metal 76 mm M1A2 barrel with a thread protector for the Sherman M4 series tanks in 1:48 scale from Aber. An accurate metal replacement for the plastic barrel on Sherman models.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal barrel in 1:48 scale from the Polish company Aber. It is not a model but an accessory that replaces the plastic barrel of a kit. The metal form has a perfectly circular profile with no joint seam, an accurate muzzle and, in this form, the thread protector on the muzzle as well.
The 76 mm M1A2 gun was an American tank weapon that armed the more capable versions of the Sherman medium tank of the M4 series. Against the original 75 mm gun it offered higher penetrating power against armor; the thread protector on the muzzle served to protect the thread for a muzzle brake.
Cut off the plastic barrel and clean the area up, then seat the metal one and fix it with cyanoacrylate glue. Degrease the metal before gluing and use a primer suitable for metal. Check that the version of the Sherman you are building really did carry the 76 mm gun.
This is an accessory, not a model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
