Responsibility details are not available.
A set of photo-etched parts intended to replace the front and rear fenders on a model of the German Jagdtiger tank destroyer in 1:48 scale. It is not a vehicle kit but an accessory for a model you already have. Aber is a Polish manufacturer of photo-etched parts and turned barrels whose sets are among the finest available. Check the exact number of parts and the rest of the package contents against the illustration on the packaging.
The Sd.Kfz. 186 Jagdtiger was a German heavy tank destroyer from the end of the Second World War, built on the lengthened chassis of the Tiger II tank and armed with a 12.8 cm gun. Its fenders over the tracks were thin sheet parts made up of several segments. In 1:48 scale injection-molded plastic necessarily produces them excessively thick; metal photo-etch returns the correct thickness to them and makes it possible to suggest credibly the bends, dents or missing segments that were common on vehicles in service.
Degrease the parts first — photo-etch tends to be slightly greasy from manufacture and paint would not hold on it. Use a sharp scalpel on a surface to separate them, not cutters, so that the sheet does not buckle. Make the bends in a bender or between two razor blades: bend the metal with a short, decisive movement and preferably in several goes rather than breaking it. They are glued with super glue (cyanoacrylate) applied in a minimal quantity; plastic cement does not hold on metal. Apply a primer suitable for metal before painting, or the shade will rub off during handling.
