1:48 Vought A-7D/E Corsair II — masks for the glazing, wheel hubs and taxi light is a self-adhesive masking set from Furball Aero-Design. It is not a kit, but an accessory for a Corsair II model in 1:48 scale. The intended kit is Hasegawa.
Responsibility details are not available.
The American company Furball Aero-Design has prepared pre-cut self-adhesive masks that cover the cockpit glazing, the wheel hubs and the taxi light. The package holds no plastic parts — it is purely an accessory for a plastic kit, which the modeler has to have. The cuts match the shape of the glazing of the Hasegawa kit in 1:48 scale, so the set is not interchangeable across makers.
The Vought A-7 Corsair II was a subsonic single-seat attack aircraft with a turbofan engine without an afterburner. Structurally it followed on from the same company's earlier supersonic fighter type, but it received a shorter and bulkier fuselage with room for fuel and electronics. The A-7D version was flown by the US Air Force and the A-7E by the Navy — both were among the first machines with a digital navigation and attack system, which made attacks on ground targets markedly more accurate.
Apply the masks only to finished, clean and degreased glazing, ideally before it is glued into the fuselage. The order of painting has a logic of its own: first a thin coat of the interior color, so that the frame does not show through from inside, then the base coat and finally the outer camouflage. Lay on several light coats rather than one heavy one — a heavy coat will build a ridge at the edge of a mask that stays visible after it is removed. The wheel hubs are especially convenient to mask: the tire is sprayed dark all over and the mask then defines a clean circle of metal hub with no going over the line by hand.
This is an accessory for a kit. The Hasegawa base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
