Wright R-1820 Cyclone 1:48 is a resin add-on set of the American radial engine from the manufacturer Metallic Details - it is not an aircraft kit but a detail part.
Responsibility details are not available.
An add-on set in resin in 1:48 scale that renders the American Wright R-1820 Cyclone radial engine. It is not an aircraft model or a kit but a detail part meant to be swapped for the coarser plastic engine from a base model, or to be used in a diorama scene as a standalone engine.
The R-1820 Cyclone was a single-row air-cooled radial engine with nine cylinders, one of the most widely used American aircraft engines of the 1930s and 1940s. It was built in many power versions and powered transport as well as military machines; later, derived versions found use outside aviation as well. For a modeler it is typical for its dense tangle of cylinder heads, exhaust collector and auxiliary plumbing - exactly what a kit molds in plastic only in a simplified form.
First wash the resin parts in warm water with detergent so that the mold release agent disappears from them, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutter and do not break them; protect your airways while sanding and sand wet. They are bonded with super glue, as ordinary plastic cement does not work. Apply a primer before painting. The engine comes into its own when the base metallic shade is completed with a dark wash in the recesses and the edges are picked out with a dry brush; the exhausts weather well with burnt steel shades and rust pigments.
An add-on set in resin; it is not an aircraft kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
