The resin detail set WWI airspeed indicator in 1:48 scale from GasPatch models — a faithful replica of a German First World War aircraft airspeed indicator.
Responsibility details are not available.
A detail set of a German First World War aircraft airspeed indicator in 1:48 scale from the Greek manufacturer GasPatch models. This is not an airplane model but a fine instrument accessory fitted to a biplane near the cockpit. The parts are cast in a special durable resin so that the thin sections do not break during fitting and painting.
German First World War biplanes often measured speed with a windmill type indicator mounted on a strut or on the wing leading edge. The rotation of the vanes in the airstream drove the needle of the indicator, which the pilot watched directly from the cockpit. It is precisely these small instruments exposed to the airflow that lend a model authenticity.
Wash the parts free of mold release agent, cut the casting gates off carefully and bond them with super glue. Given how fine they are, work with tweezers and a magnifier; apply a fine base before painting and use metal shades on the dial and the vanes.
The detail set does not hold an airplane model, glue or paints. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
