Lewis Mk.I Stripped Full Heat Sinks 1:48 (GasPatch Models) is a resin pair of Lewis aircraft machine guns without the jacket, with the full finned radiator exposed, for superdetailing.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin detail set that captures the British Lewis Mk.I aircraft machine gun in the lightened form without the outer jacket, with the full aluminum finned radiator exposed, in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for superdetailing. The package holds a pair, two resin castings.
The Lewis was a British light machine gun of 7.7 mm caliber (.303 British) with a pan magazine on top, a common flexible weapon of the aircraft observer in the First World War. An aluminum finned radiator around the barrel served for cooling. On aircraft the outer jacket was often taken off, because the airflow took care of cooling.
This form is stripped, that is without the cylindrical jacket, while the fins of the radiator remain exposed along their full length. The weapon suits the observers' flexible mounts, where the fine fins are a striking visual feature.
Wash the parts free of mold release agent residue, separate the casting blocks carefully and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. The fine fins come out well with a dark metal base and a careful dry brush that picks out the tips of the fins.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as resin castings. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
