Tamiya 1:6 Honda MONKEY 40th Anniversary is a large plastic kit of the legendary miniature Honda motorcycle in the anniversary edition.

A plastic kit from the large-scale motorcycle line of the Japanese manufacturer Tamiya. The 1:6 scale means that the finished model measures roughly 224 mm in length, 100 mm in width and 175 mm in height — so it is a display piece on which even the small engineering of the machine shows to advantage. The box contains chrome-plated parts, for example the exhaust cover and the handlebars, metal springs for the suspension and vinyl tubing; the decals cover the anniversary version as well as two ordinary versions of the motorcycle.
The Honda Monkey is a miniature leisure motorcycle with an air-cooled four-stroke engine of 50 cm³, which appeared in 1967 and essentially founded a whole category of small fun machines. Its characteristic features are the small wheels, the folding handlebars and the low weight — the Monkey fitted into a car trunk and could be taken to a cottage or to a campsite. The edition for the fortieth anniversary recalls the machine in a striking finish with the accessories that made the Monkey a collector's item.
Build and paint the engine and the frame before you join them — on a motorcycle everything is in plain sight and painting afterwards is hard to reach. Do not sand the chrome-plated parts and do not glue them with ordinary cement through the chromed surface; first scrape the contact spots down to the plastic. Spray the painted surfaces of the tank and the fenders over primer and finish them with gloss clear, so that the chrome accessories stand out. Assemble the suspension with its metal springs last, so that it does not spring apart while you handle the model.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
