Although the name gives only the type of aircraft, this is a decal sheet, not a kit. The set is intended for models of the twin-engine turboprop Antonov An-26 transport aircraft in 1:72 scale and its theme is the striking painting of a shark mouth on the forward fuselage. The base model has to be obtained separately.

The real subject

The An-26 is a tactical transport aircraft with a high-wing layout, two turboprop engines and a rear ramp that folds down, which allows vehicles to be loaded and cargo to be dropped in flight. The high-set wing and the sturdy landing gear let it operate from unpaved surfaces. Thanks to a long production run it reached many military and civilian operators, and some machines carried non-standard paintings including a stylized mouth on the nose.

Soaking and transferring a decal

• Use lukewarm, clean water for soaking; hot water releases the adhesive needlessly fast and the film is then harder to position.
• Dip an individual decal for only a few seconds and let it finish releasing out of the water on a paper towel - you will know it by the film moving freely on the backing.
• Never leave the whole sheet in the water; the dissolved adhesive washes away and the decal will then not hold.
• Apply long lettering along the fuselage in one go and align it to the engraved lines, not by eye.
• Settle the nose painting over the curve with a softener, which softens the film and lets it wrap around the shape.

Who the set is for

For modelers who build the An-26 in 1:72 scale and want a more striking, instantly recognizable design instead of the standard markings. Even a less experienced builder will manage it, provided a smooth gloss surface is prepared beforehand.

This is an accessory for a kit. The model, paints, varnish and a decal softener are not included in the package.
