A wooden deck 1:700 for the German destroyer Z-28 is an accessory to a ship kit: a self-adhesive veneer with the laying of the planks printed on it for the narrow deck of a destroyer. Cut for the Trumpeter 05790 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit of the ship but an accessory to one. A wooden veneer with a self-adhesive underside and the printed laying of the planks will replace the plastic deck of the basic kit. On a destroyer the accessory is smaller in extent than on a battleship, which shows in the handling as well: the deck is short and narrow, and all the more demanding on precision. The veneer is cut for the Trumpeter 05790 kit.
The Z-28 was a destroyer of the Kriegsmarine from the period of the Second World War. Destroyers differ from large surface ships by a slender hull and a densely built-up deck: between the gun positions, the torpedo tubes and the superstructures relatively little free area is left. That is exactly why the look of the remaining deck areas is clearly visible on the model.
On a narrow deck the precision of alignment decides. The veneer has little room for correction: if you lay it even a tenth of a millimeter off the axis, on a slender hull it will show as a converging seam along the side. So lay the part on dry first and check both sides at the same time, not just one. Rather trim small overhangs only after gluing, with a new and really sharp scalpel blade, drawn lightly and several times over instead of one heavy pass. A blunt edge will fray the veneer.
The accessory is supplied on its own. The ship kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
