Fujimi 1:700 IJN Maya Full-Hull (TOKU Easy) — the Takao-class heavy cruiser in a full-hull version including the part below the waterline. The simplified TOKU Easy line.
Responsibility details are not available.
The full-hull variant of the heavy cruiser Maya from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi in 1:700 scale. Unlike waterline models it shows the ship complete — including the lower hull with the keel and the screws, so it is ideal for display on a stand in a case. The simplified design of the TOKU Easy line meanwhile keeps the number of parts low and the build brisk.
Maya was one of the four Takao-class heavy cruisers with a main armament of 203 mm and the typical massive bridge superstructure. In 1943 and 1944 she went through a rebuild into an anti-aircraft cruiser — in place of one gun turret she received batteries of anti-aircraft guns. She was sunk on 23 October 1944 by an American submarine on her way to the Battle of Leyte.
With a full-hull model watch the clean joint of the two hull halves and the boundary of the underwater part — separate the reddish brown anti-fouling coat from the naval gray with masking tape. The ship stands out on a polished stand; a wash in the engraved detail and fine differentiation of the anti-aircraft armament will give the model depth.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
