A wooden deck in 1:700 scale for a model of the Chinese ironclad Chen Yuen in her 1894 state, cut for the S-Model PS 70002 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Chen Yuen was an ironclad of the Imperial Chinese Navy, built in Germany in the 1880s. The year given in the name refers to the form from the time when the ship was in active service. Ships of that generation had a low freeboard and expansive open areas between the turrets and the superstructures, so the deck is the first thing a viewer notices on a model.
A deck sheet of wooden veneer for 1:700 scale, cut for the kit with the manufacturer's part number PS 70002. The planks and the gaps between them arise from the division of the veneer, not from printing or engraving into plastic, so the surface has a texture of its own and light breaks on it much as on a real deck. The cutouts for the superstructures, the turrets and the deck equipment are prepared in advance.
First rid the plastic deck of burrs and sand it flat; the veneer is thin and will give away every unevenness of the surface. Lay the sheet on dry and check whether the cutouts match the position of the superstructures. Whether the underside has an adhesive layer is given in the manufacturer's instructions; if not, reach for a glue suitable for wood and apply it in a thin even coat. Press down from the center toward the edges over a soft backing and trim the excess at the sides last.
The ship kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise. The extent of the package is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
