Nine turned metal barrels in 1:700 scale that replace the plastic barrels of the 406 mm main gun battery. This is not a kit but a detail accessory for a model you already have under construction. The manufacturer is the Polish brand Aber, known for accurate turned barrels and photo-etched parts.
The British battleships Nelson and Rodney were among the most unusual capital ships of the interwar era. Their main battery of nine 406 mm guns was concentrated in three triple turrets arranged entirely forward of the superstructure, which gave the ships an unmistakable silhouette. The design came about as a compromise forced by the displacement limits of the treaties of the day. The Rodney wrote herself into the history of the war at sea with the final phase of the pursuit of the German battleship Bismarck.
On large calibers the mold parting line on a plastic barrel shows up most, so the replacement is noticeable at once. Cut the plastic barrel off at the face of the turret, level the surface and drill a hole for the pin of the metal part. The nine barrels in three turrets must be aligned; glue them once checked dry and fix them only after the whole trio lines up. Meter out the super glue sparingly, since any excess turns white on brass. Degrease the metal before spraying and use a primer for metal surfaces.
The set is an accessory for a model, not a ship kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
