This injection-molded plastic kit captures the nuclear-powered Nimitz class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). The model offers a choice between the waterline version and the full version with a complete hull on the supplied stand. A photo-etched mast and a set of carrier aircraft are included in the package, so the finished model reaches a considerable length.
The USS Abraham Lincoln is the fifth ship of the Nimitz class, the largest category of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers. Vessels of this class carry an air wing of dozens of aircraft and serve as a mobile base for the air power of the US Navy. The subject of the model is the ship as she was in the first half of the 21st century.
With large ships it pays to plan the painting of the deck and the sides of the hull before the final assembly. Glue the photo-etched parts with super glue and the plastic sections with thin modeling cement for plastic. The deck comes out well after the panel lines are brought out with a dark wash and lightly dry-brushed. The waterline version makes it easier to set the model into a diorama with a water surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
