A wooden deck for a model of the battleship USS Iowa BB-61 in 1:700 scale from Artwox Model. A self-adhesive laser-cut veneer that replaces the plastic deck and gives the model a realistic plank structure.

This is an accessory, not a ship model. The self-adhesive wooden deck of fine veneer is laser-cut exactly to the shape of the decks of the battleship USS Iowa BB-61 in 1:700 scale. The printed-in drawing of the planks and their seams replaces smooth plastic and gives the model the natural look of a wooden walking deck. The set usually completes a plastic kit matching this ship and this scale.
USS Iowa BB-61 was the lead ship of the class of the same name of fast battleships of the US Navy. She stood out for a main armament of nine 16-inch guns in triple turrets and for high speed. The ship served in the Pacific in the Second World War, later in the Korean War and, after modernization, again in the 1980s.
Clean and degrease the area of the deck before sticking anything on. The parts peel off their backing and are laid on the deck; it is best to work from one edge and press the veneer down gently so that no air bubbles form. The thin veneer can be worked around the superstructure. Once it is on, it is usually a good idea to fix the deck with a matte clear varnish and, if you like, to pick the seams out lightly.
This is a separate accessory to a plastic model. The ship kit itself, the glue and the paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
