An Eduard accessory set of the LööKplus range for a P-51D model in 1:72 scale, in the version with the exhausts without the fairing.
Responsibility details are not available.
The P-51D is the most widespread version of the American Mustang fighter, recognizable by the teardrop canopy and the cut-down rear fuselage. The exhaust gases were led away by short stacks brought out on both sides of the forward fuselage, six on each side. Some machines had a fairing fitted over them, others flew with the exhausts exposed, and it is precisely the exposed version that this set aims at. The difference is clearly visible on a model, because it is a place directly under the viewer's eye.
The exhausts are among the parts that deserve more detail than mass production of plastic parts can carry. The replacement part has a crisper shape at the openings and a more legible transition to the fuselage, so once painted and highlighted, metal stained by exhaust comes across more convincingly. At the same time the set makes sure that the variant of the exhaust matches what the machine being built actually ought to carry.
An accessory set is supplied. The kit, paints, glue and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
