HGW 4 Colour Lozenge Lower – Base White 1:72 is a sheet of decals with the four-color printed camouflage pattern for the lower surfaces of First World War aircraft. The print has a white base layer of its own, so no white coat is needed under the decal.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of waterslide decals that replaces the slow spraying of lozenge, that is the four-color printed camouflage pattern with which the fabric covering of German aircraft was printed in the First World War. This item covers the lower surfaces of the wings and the fuselage and is printed with a white base layer. The manufacturer is the Czech brand HGW, which specializes in covering patterns and fabric accessories.
The decal has a covering white base of its own, so it does not have to be stuck onto an area painted white beforehand, and the colors on the model match what you see on the sheet. The transparent versions of the same pattern, by contrast, let the color of the base through and call for careful preparation of the surface. The print is done in muted, slightly faded shades and with a fine texture resembling fabric.
Smooth the area under the decal and go over it with a gloss varnish, as silvering appears on a matte surface. Cut the pattern panel by panel with a small overlap, lay it on wet and settle it with a softener, so that it sits into the engraved lines and over the ribs. Once perfectly dry, go over the surface with a matte or semi-gloss varnish, with which the edges of the decal disappear and the area will carry further markings.
This is a separate sheet of decals, not a kit. Varnishes, softeners and paints are not included in the package.
