This injection-molded plastic kit captures the Soviet AT-1 self-propelled artillery mount. This boxing is supplied with plastic tracks, which are glued with ordinary modeling cement and hold the shape of the sag on the upper run better. The model is meant to be glued together and painted.
The AT-1 was a self-propelled artillery mount created in the middle of the 1930s on the chassis of a light tank. Instead of a rotating turret the hull carried a fixed superstructure with an artillery weapon intended for indirect fire as well. The intention was to get artillery support onto a tracked chassis that moves in the same terrain and at the same pace as tanks. The vehicle stayed at a small batch and never reached series production, so it belongs among the development dead ends of interwar tracked machinery. For a collector it is interesting precisely as an intermediate step between a light tank and later self-propelled guns.
Build the plastic tracks according to the instructions before the hull is closed and let them dry enough before you fit them onto the wheels. Suggest the sag of the upper run of the track by weighting it while the glue sets. Cut the parts off with a sharp knife, sand the burrs and glue the joints with thin cement for polystyrene. Spray the base with an airbrush, apply the decals after the gloss coat, then a dark wash in the recesses and a dry brush on the edges. Dust pigments on the tracks and the underside of the hull will settle the model into its setting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
