The .50 caliber Browning in the fixed form, 1:72 scale — a resin set from GasPatch models with two machine guns to replace the plastic parts in a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This product is not a model of an aircraft but an accessory for one. According to the name the package contains two pieces of the .50 caliber Browning heavy machine gun in the fixed form, that is in the version for a non-movable installation in the airframe. The resin castings replace parts from the mold, which in 1:72 scale usually have neither the jacket nor the muzzle rendered.
The .50 caliber Browning, that is 12.7 mm, is one of the longest-serving machine guns of all. The air-cooled, short-recoil weapon became the standard armament of American aircraft of the Second World War and was used in fixed installations in the fuselage and in the wing, in gun positions and on ground vehicles. The fixed variant differs from the flexible one in the absence of grips and sights and in the treatment of the rear of the weapon, because the firing mechanism of the aircraft takes over the control.
The most effective trick with machine guns in a small scale is to open the muzzle: with a 0.3 to 0.4 mm micro drill, carefully drill into the center, ideally with the part still on the casting block, which serves as a handle. Only then cut the part off. After washing the release agent off, apply a dark primer and build the metal shades up in thin layers. Paint the protruding barrels a shade lighter than the body of the weapon so that they separate optically. Finally unify everything with a matte clear coat.
The accessory is supplied unpainted, as resin parts to be finished. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
