AML painting masks for the Curtiss P-40K Warhawk in 1:72 scale — accurately run camouflage boundaries with no uneven edges and no brush by hand.
Responsibility details are not available.
Self-adhesive painting masks from the Czech manufacturer AML for spraying the camouflage onto a model of the Curtiss P-40K Warhawk fighter in 1:72 scale. The camouflage schemes of the P-40 work with long, smoothly waving boundaries between the shades, and curves like that are hard to keep even with a brush or freehand with an airbrush. The masks draw the boundaries out for you: the lines run correctly along the whole length of the fuselage and the wing, and the result is the same on both sides of the model.
The P-40K was a continuation of the Warhawk series with a more powerful Allison engine; the increase in power called for changes to the directional control, which is why the early K aircraft received the characteristic extended dorsal fillet ahead of the vertical tail. The type served on many fronts from North Africa through the Far East to the harsh conditions of Alaska, and a significant number of aircraft also flew in Soviet colors. A rugged structure and reliability kept the P-40 in the front line even when it was falling behind in performance.
For builders of American fighters who want even, correctly run camouflage boundaries. The set comes in releases for particular kits, so we recommend checking the fit on your model by laying them on.
