Decals for P-40 fighters delivered under Lend-Lease in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker AML. Markings of machines that served outside the American air forces.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal sheet in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer AML, focused on Curtiss P-40 fighters delivered to the Allies under Lend-Lease. It was precisely this group of machines that carried the most varied markings of the whole career of the type, because the original American production finish and the new national markings of the operator were layered on top of each other. The sheet gives a finished kit a different identity from the one offered by the box.
The Curtiss P-40 was a single-engine fighter with a liquid-cooled V12. It was not among the highest-performing machines of its day, but it was rugged, easy to build and could be deployed practically anywhere. The deliveries to the Allies turned it into a type that served on the Eastern Front, in North Africa and in the Pacific, and in each of those settings it was given a different finish and different markings.
The base under the decals has to be glossy, otherwise a matte shadow appears around them. Release the decal in lukewarm water and lay it onto a dampened surface so that it can still be moved. Use a decal softener on rounded parts and in engraved lines. Once dry, spray the model with a matte clear coat. On worn machines you can sand the decal gently after varnishing so that it looks used.
This is a decal sheet and does not contain the model itself. Paints, glue and the kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
