1:72 Defiant Mk.I "B" Camouflage Patterns

Painting masks Boulton Paul Defiant Mk.I, scheme B (1:72, AML)

Self-adhesive painting masks from the Czech maker AML for a model of the Boulton Paul Defiant Mk.I in 1:72 scale. The masks bound the dividing lines of the upper-surface camouflage scheme B exactly, so that painting goes quickly and with symmetrical, sharp transitions.

The real subject

The Boulton Paul Defiant was a British two-seat fighter with an unconventional concept: all of its armament was a powered gun turret behind the pilot, and the airplane had no fixed machine guns firing forward. By day it did not prove itself against single-seat fighters, but it made its mark as a night fighter. Scheme B is one of the two mirror-image standard RAF camouflage schemes.

Use

• Lay the masks on the dried base coat and press the edges down carefully against paint creeping under.
• Spray the contrasting shade with an airbrush in coats; take the mask off while the paint is still fresh.
• The transitions can be fine-tuned with a light overspray across a lifted edge of the mask.

Who the set is for

• Modelers building British fighters of the Second World War in 1:72.
• Those who want a sharp and symmetrical camouflage scheme with no marking out by hand.

This is a masking aid, not a model or paints. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package.
