Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British de Havilland DH.80A Puss Moth light touring aircraft in 1:72 scale from AVI Models. This release captures the machine fitted with a ski undercarriage for operating on snow-covered and frozen surfaces. It is a short-run model, which more experienced builders will appreciate; the box contains decals for finishing the machine.
The Puss Moth was a three-seat high-wing monoplane with a folding cabin roof, which de Havilland introduced at the turn of the 1920s and 1930s. It became famous as a fast and comfortable touring aircraft and wrote itself into history with the long-distance flights of its day. The version on skis allowed operation in winter conditions and in remote areas where prepared runways were missing.
With short-run models it pays to try the parts dry and to fit the joints before gluing. Use thin cement for plastic and clean the thin struts and bracing of flash carefully. Apply a base coat of primer before painting; the covering coat is ideal with an airbrush, and a gloss coat under the decals makes them easier to place.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
