The F-4D was the improved version of the Phantom II for the US Air Force, following on from the early F-4C. It brought improved avionics and a more accurate bombing system. The edition commemorates, among others, the machine of the pilot Steve Ritchie of the 555th Tactical Fighter Squadron (the Triple Nickel), who shot down five MiG-21s and became the only fighter ace of the US Air Force from the Vietnam war. It is precisely the D designation that sets this item apart from the early F-4C version.
Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and sand the joints. Paint the extensive cockpit glazing with the help of the enclosed masks and pick out the interior before closing the fuselage. Assemble the underwing stores according to the scheme you choose. The typical Vietnam Southeast Asia camouflage (brown and green upper surfaces, a light underside) comes into its own after a gloss coat, the decals and picking out the panel lines with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
