An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Japanese manufacturer FineMolds. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. This boxing is focused on a special color finish of the Japanese F-4EJ Kai of 2020, specifically on its yellow variant. Special schemes were prepared in Japan at the close of the type's service and prominent areas of rich color are typical of them, which on a model are usually covered by decals and masked spraying.
The F-4EJ is the Japanese version of the twin-engine, two-seat Phantom II, built in Japan under license; the designation Kai belongs to the modernized form with newer avionics. The type served in Japan for an unusually long time and its last years of operation were accompanied by special color schemes marking the end of its service. What is characteristic of the airframe is the large two-seat cockpit, the drooping wingtips and the anhedral of the horizontal tail surfaces.
Finish the cockpit, the instrument panel and the landing gear bays before closing the fuselage. A rich yellow shade has low covering power, so apply a light base under it, ideally white, and spray in several thin coats. You will deal with the sharp transitions between color fields using masking tape or cut templates. Before applying the decals, coat the area with gloss varnish, and once it has dried even the surface out with matte or semi-gloss varnish to taste.
