A photo-etched detailing set in 1:72 scale for a model of the F-51D Mustang fighter. The range of parts and the kit it is cut for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mustang is an American single-seat fighter of the Second World War and one of the most widespread machines of its day. The F-51D designation is not a different type: after the independent US Air Force came into being, the letter in fighter designations changed in 1948 from P to F, so the P-51D became the F-51D. Under that designation the machines went on serving through the whole of the 1950s, in Korea among other places, and they also flew with other users.
This is a set of photo-etched parts, that is metal elements etched into a thin fret in which they are held by narrow tabs. Photo-etch is used where plastic would be too thick: on fine fittings, grilles, covers and belts. What exactly the set covers and which kit it is cut for are given in the manufacturer's instructions; the name does not specify it any further. Check it against the kit you have.
First check in the instructions whether the color elements have an adhesive layer of their own; if they do, no glue is applied to them. Separate the other parts with a sharp blade on a firm surface and sand down the remnant of the tab so that the edge sits flush. Make the bends along the marked score lines and in one movement, as repeated bending tires the metal. They are bonded with a drop of super glue applied with a toothpick. Degrease the unprinted elements and spray them with primer before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth metal.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
