F-6C was the American designation of the reconnaissance variant of the Mustang derived from the fighter version with the Merlin engine. The aircraft carried photographic equipment in the rear fuselage and were used for tactical reconnaissance, that is, for mapping targets and taking pictures before and after an action. The machines kept the performance and range of their fighter original, so they could move over a target area without escort. Some of them received the bulged sliding cockpit canopy, which noticeably improved the crew's view to the sides and to the rear.
Concentrate on the cleanliness of the glazing, because the reconnaissance version has extra windows on the model for the photographic equipment. Mask the clear parts accurately and glue them with glue intended for clear parts. Put the fuselage halves together dry first, fill the seams and sand them back, and a filler primer will then reveal any remaining marks. Prepare gloss varnish under the decals. Reconnaissance machines often carried prominent stripes and markings, so it pays to paint in layers and to mask the edges with masking tape with good adhesion.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
