A decal set from the Polish maker Toro Model devoted to the markings of the light GAZ 69 off-road car used in Poland. The box holds waterslide decals for a model in 1:72 scale. It is neither a kit nor a finished model; the set completes a model that has to be obtained separately.
The GAZ 69 is a light off-road car of Soviet design with drive to both axles, built from the 1950s in versions with different numbers of doors and seating arrangements. It was widespread throughout Eastern Europe, where it served with the army and with other services, and a number of machines also saw civilian use. That is exactly why you will meet very varied markings on it, from military registration numbers to the lettering and insignia of non-military users, so the vehicle suits dioramas outside purely combat scenes as well.
In 1:72 scale the decals are very small, so work patiently. Paint the model and spray it with a gloss varnish, cut the motif out as close as possible and dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds. Once it releases from the backing, move it into place with a damp brush rather than tweezers, so that it does not tear. Blot off the excess water and apply a decal softener. In this scale small motifs settle well even without stronger products, but on the fenders and the hood, where the shape changes, a softener helps. Once it is dry, varnish the model with a matte coat and add the weathering.
The set holds only decals. A model, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
