Turned barrel for the Jagdtiger in 1:72 scale from Aber: a metal replacement for the 128 mm barrel. It is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal barrel in 1:72 scale for a model of the German Sd.Kfz. 186 tank destroyer, known as the Jagdtiger, that is, for the 128 millimeter gun. It is not a kit but a replacement for the plastic part. On this vehicle the barrel is long and heavy, and in a small scale the plastic one tends to be bowed, so a metal replacement improves the model markedly.
The Jagdtiger was the heaviest series-produced tank destroyer of the Second World War. It came about by setting a massive 128 millimeter gun in a fixed superstructure on the lengthened chassis of the Tiger II. Its weapon could hit practically any Allied tank at long range, but the vehicle was slow, unreliable and consumed enormous amounts of fuel. Fewer than a hundred were built.
Cut the plastic barrel off as close to the turret as possible and drill the seating so that the pin of the metal barrel sits firmly without passing right through. Degrease the metal with alcohol and apply a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. It is bonded with super glue, that is, cyanoacrylate, applied drop by drop. Fit the barrel at the very end of the build so that it is not bent during handling, and check its axis by eye from the front while the glue sets. In 1:72 scale, meter out the glue with the tip of a wire, not straight from the bottle.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
