A turned brass barrel in 1:72 scale from the Polish brand Aber, matching the middle production period of the StuG III Ausf. G assault gun. It is a detail accessory for a plastic kit you have already bought, not a model of the vehicle. The metal part replaces a plastic barrel glued up from two halves, so no parting seam and no imperfectly round cross section are left on the model.
The Sturmgeschütz III Ausf. G was the most widespread form of the German assault gun and it was built in large numbers right up to the end of the war. The 7.5 cm StuK 40 L/48 gun of 75 mm caliber turned it above all into a tank destroyer, even though the machine had come about as infantry support. A range of details changed during production, among them the shape of the muzzle brake, and it is by that brake that the early, middle and late vehicles are told apart.
Cut the plastic barrel off as close to the mantlet as possible, level the cut with a file and open the hole out with a hand drill if needed. Degrease the metal part and glue it with cyanoacrylate glue or epoxy, watching that the barrel points exactly along the axis of the casemate. Start the painting with a base coat for metal, then lay on the dark yellow shade or a camouflage scheme, a wash into the recesses and fine dust pigments at the root of the barrel.
The set is an accessory to a kit; the model of the vehicle itself is not included in the package. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
