Reskit 1:72 Grumman F-14B/F-14D Tomcat closed exhaust nozzles is a resin set of engine exhaust nozzles in the closed position. The accessory replaces the nozzles from the plastic kit; it is not an aircraft model in its own right.

A resin set from the maker Reskit, intended for replacing the engine exhaust nozzles on a model of the Grumman F-14B or F-14D Tomcat carrier-borne fighter in 1:72 scale. It is a detail accessory, not a kit of the aircraft: the base plastic model has to be bought separately. The castings have thin walls and finely rendered petals and inner parts, that is detail which transfers into injection-molded plastic only with difficulty. The nozzles are made in the closed, drawn-in position.
The F-14 Tomcat was a two-seat carrier-borne fighter with a variable-geometry wing. The F-14B and F-14D versions got General Electric F110-GE-400 powerplants in place of the original TF30 engines. The change showed on the outside in differently shaped and longer exhaust nozzles, so the tail end is the easiest way to tell the individual generations of Tomcat apart. The position of the petals moreover changes with the engine setting and with whether the aircraft is standing on the deck or flying, which is why Reskit offers the nozzles in the open and the closed version separately.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent, so that mold release agent residue is removed from the surface: otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc, and never snap them off. Sand resin wet and with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue; ordinary polystyrene cement will not hold on it. Apply a primer before painting. Metallic shades and heat staining come out best on a smooth surface; darken the inside of the nozzle and bring the edges of the petals out with a dry brush or a dark wash.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Check the fit with your kit before buying.
