1:72 Ki-61 Id Hien: precisely cut self-adhesive Dead Design masks for spraying the canopy of the Japanese Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien fighter in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A self-adhesive masking set from Dead Design for a model of the Japanese Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien fighter in 1:72 scale. A masking accessory for the kit: in a small scale, where painting the frames by hand is next to impossible, the masks give sharp and straight lines on the canopy.
The Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien was the only Japanese series-built fighter of the Second World War with a liquid-cooled V12 engine, which gave it a slender nose noticeably different from the other Japanese machines. The Ki-61-Id version was the most numerous production variant, with a lengthened fuselage and heavier armament. The Hien proved itself in the defense of the home islands, where it was one of the few Japanese fighters that could operate at high altitudes as well.
In 1:72 scale the panes of the canopy are tiny, so move the masks with the tip of tweezers or a scalpel and smooth the edges down carefully. The interior shade is sprayed first, then the external camouflage; lift the masks off once it is dry. The result is clean glazing with fine, even frame lines that a brush could hardly manage in this scale.
This is a masking accessory: the airplane kit itself, the paints and the glue are not included in the package.
