The second part of a series of decals in 1:72 scale for the American M3 medium tank operated by an army other than the one it was originally built for. The sheet works on its own, but together with the first part it will cover a larger group of vehicles and so suits a diorama or a display-case group. The package holds only the decals; the model is bought separately.
The design of the M3 came out of a requirement to get a tank with a 75 mm gun into the field before a suitable rotating turret was ready. The result was a vehicle with the weapon in a sponson on the right side, supplemented by a smaller gun in a turret and a machine gun cupola. Characteristic features are the tall, busy silhouette and the three-piece cast front transmission cover. The individual batches differed in the material of the hull and in the form of the turret, which matters to the modeler because the placement of the markings follows from it.
Before you start, hold the sheet up to the light; you will see how far the carrier film reaches and can guide your cut accordingly. The more closely you trim, the less of a glossy rim will show once it has dried. Polish the area on the model beforehand so that it is really smooth. If you are working with an older sheet that may have taken up damp, overspray it with a thin coat of clear varnish, which will strengthen it so that it does not fall apart in the water. When you have finished, let the model stand overnight and only then flatten the finish and weather it.
This is an accessory, namely decals. The kit, paints and varnishes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
