1:72 Mikoyan MiG-21PF Weekend is a photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, cut for the kit of the fighter aircraft in the Weekend edition from the same manufacturer. It is not a model but an interior accessory.

The package holds photo-etched metal parts intended to supplement a plastic model of the MiG-21PF fighter aircraft in 1:72 scale. The word Weekend in the name refers to the edition of the kit the set is cut for; it is a simplified package from the same manufacturer that tends to be supplied without photo-etched extras, so it is precisely there that a separate set pays off most. The set itself contains no model. The manufacturer is Eduard, a Czech company from Obrnice near Most, which makes photo-etched accessories for its own kits as well as for those of others.
The MiG-21PF is one of the early radar-equipped variants of the Soviet single-engine supersonic MiG-21 fighter. It has the typical layout with a delta wing, a circular air intake in the nose and a movable center cone, into which on this version a radar antenna was built, which led to an enlargement of the nose compared with the earlier variants. The PF version had no built-in cannon and relied on guided missiles; cannon armament could be carried under the fuselage in a pod.
In 1:72 scale the photo-etched parts are fitted at the limit of what can be picked up with tweezers, so work over a light closed surface and do not break the fret up in advance. Fit the parts meant for the cockpit in order from the floor and the side walls to the instrument panel, before you close the fuselage up, as the interior is unreachable afterwards. If the components are pre-colored from the factory, leave them unsprayed and merely pick them out with a dark wash and a light dry brush on the edges; even out any sheen with a matte varnish, but apply it in a thin coat so that it does not flood the fine printing. Degrease unpainted metal parts and spray them with a primer for metal. Dose the glue with a pin in tiny drops; at this scale an excess is noticed at once. Before closing the fuselage, always check dry that the halves will shut with the interior fitted.
The set is an accessory to a plastic kit. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
