An injection-molded plastic kit of the American fighter Lockheed P-38J Lightning in 1:72 scale in an edition from the manufacturer Hobby 2000 focused on machines from the Pacific theater of 1944. It is a limited edition that combines quality plastic parts originating from the Dragon (DML) mold with a new decal sheet printed by Cartograf and with self-adhesive pMask masks. The set thus offers proven plastic supplemented with first-class decals and masks without the need to buy them separately.
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was an American single-seat fighter with the unmistakable layout of two booms and a central nacelle with the cockpit and the armament. It was powered by two supercharged Allison engines and in the Pacific it excelled in long range, in armament concentrated in the nose and in high-altitude performance. In the hands of American aces it scored a series of successes especially over the Pacific; the P-38J version had improved cooling and better performance at high altitudes.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid modeling cement for plastic. Paint the cockpit and the nose nacelle before you close them up and mask the glazing with the enclosed pMask masks. Lay a primer and the colors with an airbrush, transfer the Cartograf decals over a gloss varnish and bring out the panel lines with a wash. With the natural metal of the Pacific machines it pays to have a smooth base and fine shading of the panels.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
