A decal sheet from the Colibri Decals brand in 1:72 scale with the markings of German Pz.Kpfw. IV medium tanks in the Ausf. D version from the period of Operation Barbarossa. The package contains the decals alone, not a model. The exact contents of the sheet and the number of marking variants are given on the packaging.
The Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. D was one of the early production versions of the German medium tank. It carried a short 75 mm gun of low muzzle velocity, intended above all for firing high-explosive ammunition in support of the infantry; fighting armored targets fell at that time rather to the lighter types with anti-armor weapons. Against the later batches the D version is recognized by the stepped front wall of the hull, the external mounting of the machine gun in the front plate and the absence of the additional armor plates, which were added only on the later versions. It is precisely these details that are worth checking on a model, so that the markings correspond to the right production batch.
Before applying, coat the areas under the decals with a gloss varnish and let them cure. Cut the motifs out closely, soak them briefly in lukewarm water and move them onto the model with a soft brush. German tactical markings and crosses often lie across edges, rivets or side armor plates, so a softener and gentle pressure with a cotton bud pay off. Once dry, even the surface out with a matte varnish and only then work with washes and dust shades.
This is a supplementary decal sheet, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
