A resin diorama accessory in 1:72 scale from MIG Productions. It is an add-on roof section of a modular system of buildings, not a standalone structure and not a vehicle model. On its own it does not form a whole object; it is intended to be added to a base wall section so that the scene gains a closed, finished look.
A wall without a finishing top looks like a mere set piece in a scene, because the eye recognizes at once that the structure ends in nothing up there. The roof section solves this shortcoming: it completes the upper edge, suggests the roof truss framing and visually closes the silhouette of the building. In rubble scenes it can also be used partly damaged or merely laid on the edge of the wall, so that the impression of a collapsed roof arises. Because it is a part of a modular line, it can be combined with wall sections, pillars and added-height sections and an object thus put together to fit the base.
First wash the resin parts with lukewarm water and dish soap to remove the mold release agent from the mold. Cut the sprue gates and the casting blocks off with a saw and level the mating surfaces on abrasive paper, wet and with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and on larger joints two-part epoxy is more reliable; fill the gaps and roughen them so that the transition fits into the structure of the masonry. After spraying a primer, a base shade with an airbrush works well, together with the lightening of the surfaces with a dry brush, a dark wash in the joints and finally pigments for dust, lime efflorescence and dirt at the base of the wall.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base diorama board are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
