Responsibility details are not available.
The second continuation of the Russian sledge train in 1:72 scale from the firm Strelets. The set widens the rear-area part of a winter scene with further sledges, teams and characters and is built so that it can be set into one column with the first part. The material is soft plastic in one color, supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Sledge transport was in winter terrain the only reliable way of getting a load to the units. A driver had to reckon with the fact that over packed snow a load is carried easily, but on bare ground or on ice sledges behave quite differently, and a column therefore advanced slowly and in close order. This operational detail makes a sledge column a rewarding diorama subject, because it naturally offers movement, depth and a pause in the scene.
The set serves well for building a longer column, where it helps to set every element apart a little. Use a different combination of coat for each team, therefore, and make the load on the sledges different every time, even supplemented with your own boxes from plastic profile or with a tarpaulin from a thin tissue soaked in thinned dispersion glue. Wash the plastic with detergent, prime it and paint with acrylic in thin layers. Ropes and loops on a load can be strung from thin wire or from a strand of copper and painted over only after they are fixed. Suggest the tracks of the sledges and the hooves on the base before the snow paste dries; the finished column then looks as if it really is moving somewhere.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
