The Savoia-Marchetti S.55 is an Italian flying boat of the 1920s with a layout you will not find anywhere else: it carries two float hulls side by side and the crew sits in the thick center section of the wing between them. The engines are mounted above the wing in tandem, one driving a tractor and the other a pusher propeller. The type became famous for long-distance flights over the open sea, which at the time were among the most demanding things aircraft could manage. The S.55A designation belongs to one of the configurations of this type.
It is a kit of a model in 1:72 scale intended to be assembled and painted. The number of parts, the package contents and the color schemes offered follow from the instructions supplied by the manufacturer. The model is supplied unassembled and without paint.
On this type the hulls and the wing form one rigid unit, so first try without glue how the parts fit together and make sure both hulls are parallel and at the same height. Glue the struts between the wing and the hulls only once the main joints have dried. On flying boats the bottoms of the hulls are painted differently from the upper surfaces, so measure out and mask the boundary in advance.
Paints, glue and other tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
