Ski landing gear for the Fokker D.VII in Finnish service in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer AML — a resin conversion for the winter face of the legendary fighter biplane.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin conversion set from the Czech manufacturer AML for kits of the Fokker D.VII biplane in 1:72 scale. It holds ski landing gear for rendering an aircraft of the Finnish Air Force in its winter form. It is an accessory for a base kit, not a stand-alone model.
The Fokker D.VII counts as the best German fighter of the First World War, so feared that the victorious powers named it specifically in the terms of the armistice. After the war a number of smaller air forces acquired the type, and Finland operated it well into the 1920s and 1930s. In the conditions there the aircraft were given skis instead of wheels in winter so that they could operate from snow-covered airfields and frozen lakes. It is this rarely seen face of the famous biplane that the set captures.
Wash the resin skis, cut off the casting blocks and glue with cyanoacrylate glue; on a biplane we recommend fitting the landing gear only after the struts and the wing bracing wires have been tensioned. A model on skis stands out beautifully on a simple snow base, for which white filler and fine ski tracks are enough.
The set is an accessory; the base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
