Plastic kit of the Sopwith Comic night fighter – a conversion of the Camel – of the First World War in 1:72 scale from Roden.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Sopwith Comic night fighter of the First World War in 1:72 scale from Roden. It was a conversion of the famous Camel into a night fighter – the set contains plastic parts with a simulated fabric surface, a detailed engine and cockpit and a decal sheet. As a biplane it calls for rigging (running wires between the wings and the fuselage), which it is worth preparing for before the build.
The Sopwith Comic was a conversion of the Sopwith Camel fighter into a night fighter intended for defense against night raids. The cockpit was moved back for a better view for the pilot and the machine guns were moved from the fuselage to above the upper wing, so that the muzzle flashes would not dazzle him. Only a few dozen machines were converted and they patrolled as part of home defense.
Finish and paint the engine and the cockpit before you close up the fuselage. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement. Once the base coat is sprayed on, paint the model with an airbrush and bring the fabric surface to life with a fine wash. Count on the rigging – run the wires between the wings and to the fuselage from elastic thread, for example, ideally only after painting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
