1:72 Soviet Headquarters in winter uniform

Soviet headquarters in winter uniform, 1:72 (Zvezda)

The plastic figure set represents Soviet commanders and staff officers in winter kit from the Second World War period. The figures in 1:72 scale capture a briefing or a command group and suit bringing a diorama with equipment and infantry to life, giving it natural action and scale. The maker is Zvezda.

The real subject

Staff officers of the Red Army directed the fighting from command posts, often in the hard winters of the Eastern Front. They wore winter greatcoats, caps and the matching kit. A command group gives a diorama action and a natural scale comparison with equipment and soldiers in the field.

Building and painting tips

Separate the small parts with a knife, clean the gates up carefully and glue them with plastic cement. In a small scale, a primer and brush painting with fine shading help; earthy shades and a hint of snow and mud on the footwear suit winter greatcoats. The work calls for care because of the size of the parts.
